“Debriefing” sounds like something an elite military team does after a high-risk operation. Or maybe something astronauts do back at NASA after a successful splash down.
For us, though, “debriefing” is sipping coffee, reliving the best moments of an event and brainstorming ways to make the next one even better.
In this photo, we’re smiling with Kiana. She served as the director for the most recent Keep a Smile On Your Faith™ event, which was Saturday, March 13, at Blue Ridge Bible Church in Kansas City, Mo. We met with her at a local coffee shop to debrief, take notes and learn. Also joining us was Kay, the women’s ministry director at BRCB, and TerryAnn Porter, our volunteer admin and technical producer (neither are pictured). In our conversation with Kiana and Kay, a few minor tweaks and some bold new ideas served as bookends to generous affirmation in the middle. Kiana raved about the Success Kit and Sponsor’s Guide. These are tools that every event planner receives upon signing a contract to host the event, and include templates, checklists, instructions and more.
“The Success Kit helped me so much,” Kiana said. “It covered everything I could think of, and many things I hadn’t thought of. All the details were there, but I was also free to use my own ideas. Your Success Kit put everything I could need in one place and made everything so simple. Seriously, if anyone has doubts about hosting this event at their church, tell them to talk to me. I’ll tell them how easy it is.” As much as Kiana appreciated the Success Kit, she also valued the content. She will be using our DVDs and Study Guide in her home as a group event with friends and neighbors.
Kay shared, “I expected the event to be terrific, and it was – but it was even beyond terrific. We had women of all ages responding to the content and enjoying the day. Even women who have attended many retreats and conferences before said this was the best one. The teaching was so rich and filled with Scripture. It really met women right where they are, and they loved it.”
One of the ideas that Kiana shared is so AMAZING that it had us gasping and clapping and laughing out loud!
